Il y a par exemple eu des propositions visant à renforcer la réglementation du commerce de détail, et même l’introduction d’une réglementation des prix des denrées jugées essentielles. Cet article examine la question de la réglementation insuffisante ou excessive du commerce de détail, et tente d’évaluer si les consommateurs pourraient bénéficier de la disparition de certaines exigences réglementaires en la matière. | Summary, etc. | Not only the high level of prices for processed food, but also the significant price increases have stimulated political discussions in Belgium. There have for instance been calls for increased regulation of retail services through price regulation of goods that are deemed essential. This article reviews the issue of insufficient, or excessive, regulation of retail services, and discusses whether retail markets would deliver a better outcome for customers in the absence of some regulatory requirements. |
