| Summary, etc. | Cet article explore l’influence du territoire rural sur le rapport au temps des jeunes femmes de classes populaires. Il repose sur une enquête ethnographique réalisée de 2017 à 2019 auprès de 54 femmes âgées de 18 à 28 ans. Cette étude dévoile d’abord la disponibilité permanente qui leur est demandée dans les sphères professionnelle, familiale et associative. Elles expérimentent très tôt les tensions de la conciliation, en raison de traits spécifiques aux espaces ruraux : une offre de services limitée, un marché du travail peu favorable aux femmes, des coûts et des temps de transport élevés, une interconnaissance forte. Elle pointe ensuite les conséquences de cette injonction à la disponibilité. Comme elles n’ont pas la maîtrise d’un temps « pour soi », ces jeunes femmes sont moins visibles sur la scène publique locale. |

| Summary, etc. | This article explores the influence of rural areas on young working-class women’s relationship to time. It is based on an ethnographic study conducted from 2017 to 2019 with 54 women aged 18 to 28. This study first reveals the permanent availability that is required of women in the professional, family and nonprofit spheres. They experience reconciliation tensions very early on, due to features specific to rural areas: a limited supply of services, a labour market unfavourable to women, high transportation costs and times, and strong inter-knowledge. The study goes on to disclose the consequences of this injunction to be available. Lacking control over their own time, these young women are less visible on the local public scene. |
