| Summary, etc. | En réponse aux inégalités socio-spatiales devant le risque d’accident de la route, une expérimentation a été conduite entre 2002 et 2008 au Royaume-Uni. La Neighbourhood Road Safety Initiative est une expérimentation spécifique pour réduire le nombre d’accidents dans les quartiers défavorisés. L’amélioration de la sécurité routière a été significative. Cet article vise à identifier les mécanismes conduisant au succès de cette expérimentation. La méthode utilisée est une analyse des documents techniques (rénovation urbaine, sécurité routière, mobilité) et des entretiens auprès d’acteurs. Les résultats montrent que le succès de la Neighbourhood Road Safety Initiative s’explique par son caractère pédagogique et pragmatique. Ainsi, l’initiative a impulsé des changements dans la manière de prioriser et réaliser des actions de sécurité routière. |

| Summary, etc. | In response to socio-spatial inequalities related to the road risk, a trial was leaded from 2002 to 2008 in the United Kingdom. The Neighbourhood Road Safety Initiative is a specific financial support in order to reduce the number of accidents in deprived neighbourhoods. Road safety improvement has been significant. The aim of this article was to detect mechanisms lead to success. The used method was an investigation of technical documents (urban renovation, road safety, mobility) and interviews. Results showed that the pedagogic and pragmatic features of the Neighbourhood Road Safety Initiative explained success. In fact, the initiative encouraged changes in terms of selecting and implementing road safety actions.Code JEL : I38 |
