Conçus pour quantifier et légitimés par leur capacité de prédiction, les sondages entretiennent une relation paradoxale à l’incertitude. La notion d’intervalle de confiance a été clé dans le développement de la technique mais reste discutée. La perspective de « l’erreur totale » montre toute la difficulté d’une quantification effective de cette incertitude. |

Designed to quantify and legitimized by their predictive capacity, polls have a paradoxical relation to uncertainty. The notion of confidence interval has been key in the development of the technique but is still discussed. The total survey error perspective shows how difficult it is to provide a realistic quantification if this uncertainty. |
