| Summary, etc. | RésuméLes discours sur le développement durable auront peu de substance, tant qu’ils ne seront pas accompagnés d’une notion de responsabilité, qui elle est reliée à la durabilité, où encore à la soutenabilité. Cet article est motivé par des circonstances tant géopolitiques qu’économiques calamiteuses, en terme de gouvernance, et de manière plus générale, par la prolifération de pratiques que l’on qualifiera ni de soutenables, ni de responsables. En conséquence, j’ai pour but l’élaboration d’une conception de la responsabilité, elle ancrée et robuste. Dans ce projet, je m’efforcerai d’identifier tout particulièrement les conditions nécessaires pour un tendre vers un comportement responsable, capable de soutenir un développement dit durable en pratique, aussi bien qu’en théorie. |

| Summary, etc. | There is little substance in discourses of sustainable development, unless they are sustained by a credible notion of responsibility. My paper is motivated by a dire state of affairs, the ubiquitous failure of governance, and, more generally, the proliferation of widespread non sustainable and irresponsible practices. Consequently, my project is to develop a grounded understanding of responsibility, and to seek out the particular conditions neces- sary for responsible conduct, one liable to underpin socially sustainable development in practice.
