Summary, etc. | Francisque Bouillier publie en 1865 Du plaisir et de la douleur. Le plaisir est le résultat d’une action favorisant la préservation ou le développement de l’être, tandis que la douleur est considérée comme une activité entravée par un obstacle venant de l’intérieur ou de l’extérieur. S’en tenant délibérément à l’approche psychologique, il exclut toute perspective morale et métaphysique. Bien que comblant une lacune de l’école éclectique, cette œuvre apparaîtra bientôt dépassée, figée dans un moment philosophique arrivé à son terme, alors que s’annonce un courant expérimental et positif, qui aboutira à la création d’une psychologie scientifique. |

Summary, etc. | Francisque Bouillier published Du plaisir et de la douleur in 1865. Pleasure is the result of an action promoting the preservation or the development of being, whereas pain is considered an activity hindered by either an internal or an external obstacle. Deliberately sticking to the physiological approach, Bouillier discarded any moral or metaphysical perspective. Although it fills a gap of the eclectic school, this work would soon be outdated, stuck in a philosophical moment that had come to its end, whereas an experimental and positive current, which would result in the creation a scientific psychology, started to appear. |
