| Summary, etc. | Dans un contexte d’essor du mécénat et d’augmentation du nombre de fondations et de fonds de dotation créés par les entreprises françaises, cette recherche examine la contribution de ces structures au management de la RSE. A partir de la littérature sur la RSE et sur le mécénat, et du courant théorique des outils de gestion, notre étude révèle une disparité dans l’appropriation des fondations et fonds de dotation par les entreprises en France. Nous proposons alors de réviser la représentation des fondations et fonds telle qu’elle apparaît dans la littérature française. Nous établissons une typologie distinguant quatre catégories de structures : des fondations ou fonds de dotation « dédiés » au service quasi exclusivement de la cause qu’ils promeuvent, des structures de philanthropie stratégique au sens de Porter et Kramer (2002, 2006, 2011), enfin, deux nouvelles catégories de structures au service d’une RSE intégrée : des fondations ou fonds « support » contribuant au management opérationnel de la RSE et à son institutionnalisation, et des fondations « pivot » ou « stratégiques » favorisant notamment l’expérimentation de nouveaux modèles économiques et sociaux. |

| Summary, etc. | In a context of growing philanthropy and an increase in number of foundations and endowment funds created by French companies, this research examines the contribution of these structures to CSR management. Based on the literature on CSR and philanthropy, and on the theoretical current of management tools, our study reveals a disparity in the appropriation of foundations and endowment funds by companies in France. We then propose to review the representation of foundations and funds as it appears in French literature. We establish a typology distinguishing four categories of structures: foundations or endowment funds almost exclusively “dedicated” to the cause they promote, strategic philanthropy structures in the sense of Porter and Kramer (2002, 2006, 2011), finally, two new categories of structures serving an integrated CSR: foundations or funds contributing to the operational management of CSR and its institutionalization, and “strategic” foundations used for instance to develop new economic and social models. |
