| Summary, etc. | Face à la destruction de la biodiversité, les acteurs privés comme publics développent un nombre grandissant d’outils innovants pour la conservation. Toujours plus performants du point de vue scientifique et technique, la question de leur performativité et de leur capacité à produire les changements promis sur les plans écologiques, sociaux et de la gouvernance reste toutefois entière. Pour y répondre, dans la suite des travaux précédents en comptabilité de gestion écosystème-centrée, ce papier propose une démarche d’analyse en quatre étapes, et l’illustre par l’étude d’un outil d’alerte contre la déforestation contribuant à une stratégie de protection d’habitats d’Orang Outans à Bornéo, Indonésie. Ce faisant, le papier défend le développement d’un domaine d’étude comparée des outils d’information pour les écosystèmes, fermement ancré dans les recherches en comptabilité, en dialogue avec les sciences de la conservation et la socio-anthropologie. Pour y contribuer, nous proposons de combiner l’analyse critique avec une posture plus engagée d’accompagnement stratégique et d’aide à la conception auprès des acteurs impliqués dans l’action de conservation. |

| Summary, etc. | In order to cope with the destruction of biodiversity, private and public actors are developing a growing number of innovative conservation tools. While these tools are increasingly effective from a scientific and technical point of view, the question of their performativity and their capacity to create the expected changes in ecological, social and governance terms remains a major concern. In order to answer this question, and following on from previous work in “accounting for the management of ecosystems”, this paper proposes a four-stage analysis approach. It illustrates it by the study of an Early Warning System for deforestation, which is part of a larger strategy for protecting Orangutan habitats, in Borneo, Indonesia. In doing so, the paper argues for the development of a field of comparative study of information tools for ecosystems, firmly rooted in accounting research and in dialogue with conservation science and socio-anthropology. To contribute to it, we propose to combine critical analysis with a more engaged strategic and design support posture at the service of actors involved in conservation action. |
