| Summary, etc. | Centré sur « l’arrière-boutique » de l’ethnographe engagé sur le terrain auprès de sans-abri, cet article entend détailler les affres et techniques de la méthode ethnographique. Autant de réalités propres à l’enquête, habituellement lissées – voire effacées – des comptes rendus de recherche qui s’en tiennent à une présentation surplombante de la méthodologie déployée et à l’argumentation des résultats obtenus. Ainsi, ce texte présente d’abord les tactiques et « bricolages » mis en œuvre pour accéder au terrain, s’y maintenir et s’y intégrer, non sans qu’émergent des impairs et des dérives potentielles de la part du chercheur. Nous abordons ensuite la part d’émotions et d’affects subjectivement ressentis par l’enquêteur sur son terrain, et ce, dans l’optique d’extraire ce que cela dit de l’objet d’étude. Autrement dit, nous proposons un détour par la subjectivité du chercheur pour mieux revenir à la compréhension objective du monde de la rue et de ses normes indigènes. |

| Summary, etc. | Centered on the “backroom” of the ethnographer engaged on the field with homeless people, this article intends to detail the pangs and techniques of the ethnographic method. These are realities specific to the investigation, usually smoothed out - or even erased - from research reports which stick to an overhanging presentation of the methodology and to the argumentation of the results. Thus, this text first presents the tactics and the “DIY” implemented to access the field, maintain and integrate oneself there, not without emerging blunders and potential drifts from the researcher. We then discuss emotions and affects subjectively felt by the investigator in the field, aiming to explain what this says on the subject under study. In other words, we propose a detour through the subjectivity of the researcher to better comprehend the street world and its indigenous norms. |
