| Summary, etc. | RésuméLa mémoire sémantique joue un rôle essentiel dans de multiples fonctions cognitives. Malgré son rôle central en cognition, peu d’attention a été portée à son implication dans les actions routinières. L’objectif de cette réflexion théorique est d’établir un rapprochement entre les modèles actuels de la mémoire sémantique et des actions routinières. Après avoir décrit brièvement ces modèles, nous présentons la théorie de la simulation située de Barsalou (2003), qui permet d’établir un pont entre les deux domaines de recherche et qui précise le rôle essentiel de la mémoire sémantique dans la prise de décision et la réalisation des actions routinières. Enfin, nous proposons des pistes de recherches futures relatives à la relation entre la mémoire sémantique, la résolution de problèmes et les actions routinières. |

| Summary, etc. | Interacting with the world around us: reflections on the relationship between semantic memory, everyday actions and problem solvingSemantic memory plays a fundamental role in many cognitive functions. Despite its central role in cognition, little attention has been paid to its involvement in everyday actions. The objective of this theoretical paper is to establish a link between current models of semantic memory and of everyday actions. Following a brief description of Grafman’s (1995) model of scripts and Cooper and Shallice’s (2000) model of schemas, we present the main models of semantic memory (sensory functional, domain-specific, semantic hub). Barsalou’s (2003) situated simulation theory is then presented. This theory provides a bridge between the two areas of research and clarifies the role of semantic memory in decision-making and in the achievement of everyday actions. More specifically, we present two of its premises: goal-derived categories and simulation. Finally, we propose directions for future research exploring the relationship between semantic memory, problem solving and routine actions. |
