L’intérêt progressif pour la place du père en obstétrique s’est appuyé sur la poussée des couples, puis sur l’intégration du conjoint aux différentes étapes de la grossesse. Sa présence en salle d’accouchement ne s’improvise pas et doit passer désormais par l’anticipation du rôle actif que ce futur père peut jouer auprès de sa compagne, d’une part, et dans l’accueil du nouveau-né, d’autre part. La préparation à la naissance en couple revêt une efficacité d’autant plus importante dans les situations de vulnérabilité paternelle et/ou maternelle. Dans ces cas, la collaboration étroite avec les acteurs de soins en santé mentale s’avère indispensable. |

| Summary, etc. | Beyond a practice testimony, the professional experience of a basic midwife illustrates the evolution of the knowledge and the techniques used over the past three decades. The progressive interest in the role of the father in obstetrics was based on the increasing number of couples interested in coming together, then on the partner’s integration in the various steps of the pregnancy. His presence in the delivery room can not be improvised and henceforth, must include the anticipation of the active part wherein the future father can play a role to support his partner on the one hand and to welcome the baby on the other hand. The birth preparation on the couple’s part is all the more important as the father and/or the mother are vulnerable. In these cases, a close cooperation with the mental health doctors proves to be indispensable. |
