| Summary, etc. | Cette étude cherche à comprendre l’émergence des études en sciences et littérature à partir de deux coupes opérées dans l’histoire, l’une à l’aube, l’autre à la fin du xixe siècle. Si la période autour de 1800 coïncide avec la naissance du romantisme allemand qui rêve d’une intelligibilité globale par-delà science et littérature, la période autour de 1900 est marquée par l’apparition des sciences de la culture ( Kulturwissenschaften) qui cherchent à fonder scientifiquement les sciences humaines en les ancrant dans la culture, devenue le mot-clé d’une nouvelle épistémè dont elles se veulent l’étendard. La mise en regard de ces deux crises de l’ordre du savoir montre que les entreprises de différenciation entre science et littérature jouent un rôle aussi important que les tentatives de synthèse pour l’émergence de l’épistémocritique. |

| Summary, etc. | This paper tries to understand the emergence of studies in science and literature by comparing two stills, one taken at the start, the other at the end, of the 19th century. If the period around 1800 coincides with the birth of German Romanticism with its dream of total intelligibility beyond science and literature, the 1900s are characterised by the appearance of cultural sciences (Kulturwissenschaften), which attempt to put the study of the humanities on a scientific basis by anchoring them in culture, the key-word of a new episteme for which they want to be the poster child. Confronting these two crises in the history of knowledge shows that endeavours to differentiate science and literature are as important as those to synthesise them, for the emergence of an epistemo-critique. |
