Quel est l’impact de ce refus de hiérarchiser a priori entre les artefacts visuels pour l’épistémocritique, et sa réflexion sur les rapports entre connaissance savante et savoirs vulgarisés ? Quels enseignements tirer de la réinterprétation, par les études visuelles, des questions de temporalité et de chronologie ? Quels apports enfin identifier du côté du statut de l’image, de son potentiel de modélisation et de sa force paradigmatique, à la conjonction de l’histoire des sciences, de l’histoire des idées et de l’histoire des formes ? |

In a general way, the epistemological displacements that visual studies, in all their variety, bring to art history, seem to carry much potential for epistemo-criticism. What is the impact of the refusal to hierarchise a priori between visual artefacts on epistemo-criticism and its reflexion on the relationship between scientific knowledge and the popularisation of science? What should be made of the reinterpretation, within visual studies, of the issues of temporality and chronology? What do the status of images, their potential to model reality and their paradigmatic force, at the junction between the history of sciences, that of ideas, and that of forms, bring to research? |
