520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. We have to admit that historians have hardly explored the part played by women of the aristocracy in 15th century business world. This lack of interest can be ascribed to the difficulty of investigating their role outside the family and more specifically in the business world, which is traditionally seen as an exclusively male are for want of substantial documentation. According to the traditional definition of their function in a married couple, women would be completely banned from this world, or could only play a very minor part in it. However, the two instances that are presented here that of Alessandra Macinghi Strozzi, ‘CEO’ of a trade company, and that of Caterina Sforza, countess of Imola and Forli, highlight the important part played by women from the aristocracy in the business world in Tuscany and Romagna in the Quattrocento.
