| Summary, etc. | La voie de recherche de Jacques English fut absolument unique dans son contexte. À l’époque du structuralisme et de la prédominance de l’ontologie heideggerienne, il choisit de se consacrer à l’étude de la phénoménologie husserlienne. Pendant trente ans, il joua le rôle de gardien de la flamme de la phénoménologie transcendantale dans un relatif isolement et dans une certaine mesure à contre-courant. Son enquête endurante jeta les bases d’un nouveau départ de la recherche phénoménologique, qui finalement survint dans les années 1980. Pourtant, cet article montre comment, dans l’analyse englishienne, combinant Husserl et Platon sur un mode original, la phénoménologie de la conscience a intrinsèquement une dimension structurale. En fait, la phénoménologie de Jacques English fournit l’exemple singulier d’un structuralisme de la conscience. |

| Summary, etc. | Jacques English’s path of research was absolutely unique in its context. At the time of structuralism and the predominance of Heideggerian ontology, he chose to dedicate himself to the study of Husserlian phenomenology. For thirty years he kept the flame of transcendental phenomenology alive in relative isolation, and to some extent against the flow. His enduring investigation laid the foundations for a new start of the phenomenological research that eventually came to pass in the eighties. However, this article shows how, in English’s analysis, combining Husserl and Plato in an original way, the phenomenology of consciousness has a structural dimension intrinsically. As a matter of fact, English’s phenomenology provides the singular example of a structuralism of consciousness. |
