Dans ces récits - qui témoignent de la spiritualité moralisante de l'an mil dans ses expressions hérétiques - un rôle central est joué par les abeilles comme métaphore d'égalitarisme, de végétarisme, de pureté et d'androgynie. Bref, comme une forte critique au présent historique, en proposant à sa place une société terrestre utopique, édénique. |

| Summary, etc. | H. FRANCO JUNIOR, The « Heretical Bees » and Medieval Millenarian Puritanism. Two almost contemporary yet deeply different chroniclers, namely, Raoul Glaber et Landolf Senior, tell two meaningful episodes that have however found little echoes among historians. In their stories – which both testify to the moralising spirituality proper to the year 1000 in its heretical forms – bees as a metaphor for egalitarianism, vegetarism, purity, and androginy play a significant part in that they represent a harsh critique of the time while outlining instead an Edenic and utopian terrestrial society. |
