520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Diogenes of Sinope set himself the principle of falsifying values and going against the tide. We might therefore expect that his conduct claimed to be paradoxical in the sense of going against accepted opinions; yet he refutes this characterisation to emphasise the correspondence between his discourse and his way of life, following the path opened by Socrates, whose paradoxes on virtue he does not, however, fully endorse. With Cynicism, paradox is no longer presented as a set of propositions, but rather as an attitude that translates into gestures against opinions: it is his body itself that the Cynic opposes to the doxa.
