| Summary, etc. | Cet article revient sur certaines tensions préalables à une version mondialisée des pratiques littéraires, en resituant celles-ci dans le cadre des « transitions » postcoloniales du siècle dernier — stade auquel s’impose un aspect collectif aux choix d’écrivains travaillant dans divers contextes « dominés » mais, aussi, où la dimension utopique d’une adhésion à la croyance littéraire se révèle comme élément critique de la littérarité. La référence aux exemples du Sénégalais Léopold Sédar Senghor et de l’Irlandais Máirtín Ó Cadhain, volontairement confrontés, permettra d’évoquer deux choix particulièrement significatifs dans cette perspective, ceux de la langue et du genre littéraire, dans ce qu’ils ont d’indissolublement singulier et pluriel. |

| Summary, etc. | Speech and Utopia. Paradigms of postcolonial transition in Ó Cadhain and Senghor This article discusses a number of tensions apparent in the development of a globalised account of literary practice, and frames these in the context of 20th-century post-colonial “transitions” — a phase in which the literary decisions of authors working in various “dominated” contexts can be seen as especially subject to collective considerations, but one also in which the utopian dimension of an adhesion to literary belief is itself revealed as a critical component of literariness. In discussing the deliberately contrasting examples of Léopold Sédar Senghor and Máirtín Ó Cadhain, the intention is to outline two particularly important choices (those of language and of genre) in that context — with particular attention to the inseparably individual and collective character of those choices. |
