| Summary, etc. | Cet article porte sur la représentation des marges de la Chrétienté au travers de quelques sources narratives de la fin du Moyen Âge. Les zones de contacts entre le christianisme latin et d’autres religions sont perçues de manière très ambiguë, à la fois bastions de la Chrétienté et sources potentielles de subversion. Avec comme points de départ l’assassinat de Pierre Ier de Castille et celui de Louis d’Orléans, l’on s’intéresse à la manière dont sont représentées la Castille, Chypre et la Hongrie, sans oublier la Lombardie, assimilée pour les besoins de la cause à une nation « périphérique ». À l’imaginaire héroïsant et exotique de la croisade se mêlent un certain nombre de stéréotypes négatifs, utilisés pour frapper un gouvernement d’illégitimité, tels que la tyrannie, l’hérésie, l’apostasie, la sorcellerie et la trahison. |

| Summary, etc. | This article focuses on the representation of the margins of Christianity across certain narrative sources of the late medieval period. The contact areas between Latin Christianity and other religions are perceived in very ambiguous terms, at once bastions of Christianity and potential sources of subversion. Taking the assassinations of Peter of Castile and Louis I of Orléans as a starting point, the focus is on the manner in which Castile, Cyprus, and Hungary, as well as Lombardy, are represented: assimilated into a “peripheral” nation out of necessity. Mixed in with the heroic and exotic imagery of the crusade are a number of negative stereotypes that are used to attack an illegitimate government, such as tyranny, heresy, apostasy, sorcery, and treason. |
