520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The Milanese humanist Pier Candido Decembrio’s Romane historie breve epitome, although not one of the masterpieces of this great author, has been handed down from twelve manuscripts. In addition to improving the Romane historie compendium of his father Uberto, he enriched it with a passage taken from the Fragmenta ex libris De viris illustribus of Nepos, which to this day is not considered by the critics. The manuscript Ferrara, Biblioteca Ariostea, II 66, is only partially autographed and preserves a note by the author concerning his translation of Appian. In the same Italian city, the work was translated into the vulgar language by Carlo da San Giorgio, known as “Polismagna,” whose autograph allows us to identify his work at the court of Borso d’Este as a translator and not a miniaturist.
