| Summary, etc. | À partir d’une mention passée inaperçue, bien qu’elle figure dans un document édité depuis quarante ans, l’article revient sur un sujet déjà passablement étudié : le cens d’or versé au profit de Cluny par Ferdinand Ier de Castille-León. Le texte est une charte donnée le 8 octobre 1062 pour enregistrer l’achat, par le monastère navarrais de San Salvador de Leire, d’une grotte située à proximité de Nájera. Les vendeurs, domna Toda et ses enfants, se séparent de ce bien pour s’acquitter d’une dépense dont ils sont redevables « pour l’or de Cluny » ( per illo oro de Cluniaco). Après avoir établi la pleine authenticité de ce document, conservé seulement dans un cartulaire du xiie siècle, on montre qu’il constitue le plus ancien témoignage – et le seul contemporain – du cens de Ferdinand Ier. Le texte en renouvelle la connaissance sous trois aspects : sa chronologie, les modalités de sa collecte et celles de son versement. |

| Summary, etc. | Starting with a reference that has gone unnoticed, even though it appears in a document published forty years ago, this article revisits a subject that has already been studied extensively: the golden census paid to Cluny by Ferdinand I of Castile-León. The text is a charter given on October 8, 1062, to record the purchase, by the Navarrese monastery of San Salvador de Leyre, of a cave located near Nájera. The sellers, domna Toda and her children, parted with this property to pay an expense they owed “for the gold of Cluny” ( per illo oro de Cluniaco). After establishing the full authenticity of this document, preserved only in a twelfth-century cartulary, we show that it constitutes the earliest testimony—and the only contemporary one—to Ferdinand I’s census. The text renews our knowledge of this census in three respects: its chronology, how it was collected, and how it was deposited. |
