| Summary, etc. | Les recherches menées sur les femmes entrepreneures demeurent rares dans le monde francophone, alors que ces dernières années ont vu une prolifération d’actions et de mesures en faveur du développement de l’entrepreneuriat féminin. Cette recherche vise donc à remédier partiellement à ce décalage, en proposant un état des lieux de la place des femmes à la direction des PME françaises de 10 à 250 salariés. Les résultats de cette recherche quantitative menée auprès de 483 dirigeants de PME permettent de mettre en évidence les particularités (ou similitudes) des dirigeantes en matière d’objectifs, de mode de management et d’insertion dans les réseaux et instances professionnelles. Une discussion des résultats permettra de montrer à la fois combien les résultats des études anglophones et francophones peuvent être tantôt confortés – tantôt relativisés – par nos observations, et combien il peut être important d’introduire de nouvelles questions dans l’agenda de recherche. |

| Summary, etc. | The subject of women entrepreneurs remains a research field that has not been significantly explored in the French speaking world. This is despite a real increase in diverse campaigns be they voluntary groups or political or professional bodies which aim to promote and develop women’s involvement in entrepreneurship. Therefore, the main purpose of this research is to bridge this gap. This will give us a clearer vision on real role of women company heads, in the domain of small and medium enterprises in France (range between 10 to 250 employees). The data for this quantitative research was gathered from a sample of 483 heads of companies. This allowed us to observe the particularities or common points between SMEs men and women directors. The subjects covered a range of information such as performance, management methods and networking. Further discussion and examination of the collected data will help us gain a greater understanding and the possibility of relative comparison between the studies carried out in the English and French speaking countries. Through this process, we hope to be able to deepen our capacity to further develop and explore the research agenda. |
