Summary, etc. | RésuméLes problèmes de santé mentale au travail augmentent en variété, en gravité et en fréquence, entraînant des coûts financiers, commerciaux et humains importants pour les organisations. Cet article vise à présenter aux cadres trois grandes pistes d’intervention pour optimiser la santé mentale des employés. Ces cibles d’action reposent sur trois besoins psychologiques essentiels à l’être humain, soit les besoins d’autonomie, de compétence et d’affiliation sociale. La non-satisfaction de ces besoins, qui sont trop souvent frustrés, voire ignorés, est à l’origine de nombreux cas de détresse psychologique. Summary, etc. | The link between mental health and meeting the need for autonomy, competency and social affiliationMental health problems in the workplace are showing an increase in their variety, severity and frequency, engendering considerable financial, commercial and human costs for organizations. This article offers managers three main avenues for intervention aimed at optimizing the mental health of their employees. These targets are based on three essential psychological needs shared by all human beings, namely: the need for autonomy, competency and social affiliation. Numerous cases of psychological distress arise as a result of the failure to satisfy these needs, which are too often thwarted or even ignored. In this article, we suggest ways to ensure that these employee needs are fulfilled, thus maximizing their chances of maintaining good mental health, with all the benefits this entails for both employees and employers. |

Summary, etc. | ResumenLos trastornos de salud mental relacionados con el trabajo son cada vez más diversos, graves y frecuentes acarreando, para las organizaciones, significativos costos financieros, comerciales y humanos. En este artículo se pretende presentar a los directivos tres grandes vías de intervención para optimizar la salud mental del personal. Estas metas de acción reposan en tres necesidades sicológicas esenciales del ser humano: autonomía, competencia y relaciones sociales. La falta de satisfacción de dichas necesidades, con frecuencia frustradas e ignoradas, provoca numerosos casos de ansiedad sicológica. En el presente artículo se sugieren medios para lograr colmar estas necesidades del personal, maximizando así la posibilidad de que éste goce de una buena salud mental, con todos les beneficias que conlleva tanto para el empleado como para el empleador. |
