| Summary, etc. | L’éthique de Wittgenstein, bien que difficile à saisir, est essentielle à sa philosophie. Afin de la comprendre, nous devons réfléchir tant à la valeur qu’au langage visant à exprimer, tandis que ce dernier échoue dans son entreprise même. Selon Wittgenstein, l’éthique est « surnaturelle » : une pleine saisie de la signification de ce terme exige une compréhension du caractère « accidentel » de tout ce qui est, i.e. qui tout ce qui appartient au monde. Nous verrons aussi comment Wittgenstein utilise la notion de « solipsisme », pour signifier l’intrication entre l’individu et la réalité en tant que tout. En ce qui concerne le langage, l’impossibilité de propositions éthiques, centrale dans le Tractatus logico-philosophicus, initie, dans la Conférence sur l’éthique, un regard réflexif sur la tendance à « affronter les murs de notre cage ». Ce n’est que sur cet arrière-plan éthique que nous pouvons comprendre la place de la religion chez Wittgenstein: Dieu (comme la valeur) réside en dehors du monde et il y a une identité entre « bon » et « divin ». |

| Summary, etc. | Wittgenstein’s ethics, though essential to his philosophy, are difficult to apprehend. In order to understand them, we need to reflect both on value and on the language that aims to express it, while this language fails in its very attempt. According to Wittgenstein, ethics is "supernatural": a full grasp of the meaning of this word requires an enquiry into the "accidental" nature of everything that is; everything that belongs to the world. This essay also analyzes how Wittgenstein uses the notion of "solipsism" to encompass the intertwining of the individual and this world as a whole. As far as language is concerned, the impossibility of ethical propositions, central to the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus, initiates, in the Lecture on Ethics, a reflexive insight into the tendency to run against "the walls of our cage." It is only against this ethical backdrop that we can understand the place of religion in Wittgenstein’s thought: God (like value) lies outside of the world, and there is an identity between "good" and "divine." |
