| Summary, etc. | RésuméCet article présente les modalités de participation des conjoints d’assistantes familiales au suivi institutionnel des jeunes qui vivent au sein de familles d’accueil. Il s’inscrit dans un objectif plus général visant à identifier le rôle du conjoint de l’assistante familiale auprès des jeunes accueillis dans trois services de placement familial français issus du secteur associatif. Des entretiens et des questionnaires ont été administrés auprès de 26 conjoints d’assistantes familiales. L’analyse des données montre que la majorité d’entre eux participe au déroulement du suivi des jeunes effectué par les travailleurs sociaux en dépit d’une absence de reconnaissance institutionnelle de leur rôle. L’ambiguïté de ce statut de « bénévole » est à l’origine de difficultés qui commencent à être prises en compte par certains services de placement familial qui organisent des groupes de paroles spécifiques en direction des conjoints. |

| Summary, etc. | The participation of foster-mothers’ husbands in the institutional follow-up of foster childrenThis article examines the modalities of participation of the foster family’s husband during the period of institutional follow-up after children’s placement in foster homes. This report also has a more general objective: to identify the role of the foster mother’s husband with foster children in three French foster-care models used in community services. Twenty-six husbands were interviewed and answered questionnaires. The data showed that most husbands of foster mothers did participate in follow-up of the foster children despite the lack of any institutional recognition of the role they played. The ambiguity of this “voluntary ” role is the source of difficulties that are just beginning to be recognized by some foster-care services, who are organizing discussion groups specifically geared to spouses. |
