| Summary, etc. | L’objectif de cet écrit est de comprendre ce qui se joue dans la dynamique des relations intergénérationnelles lorsqu’il est fait appel aux grands-parents pour garder les petits-enfants en France et en Pologne. Les pratiques de garde dans les deux pays sont analysées à travers trois générations, au moyen d’un entretien compréhensif mené auprès de 37 lignées de parents et de grands-parents. L’examen des discours bigénérationnels fait ressortir des différences de recours aux grands-parents. Plus précisément, en Pologne, où les politiques sociales sont faibles, la famille élargie joue un rôle très important dans la garde des plus jeunes, puisque les grands-parents constituent souvent le mode de garde principal. Le contrepoids français est le recours ponctuel aux grands-parents, mais à l’instar des familles polonaises, indispensable dans la promotion professionnelle des jeunes générations. |

| Summary, etc. | How Parents and grandparents relate to early childhood care in France and in PolandThe purpose of this article is to understand what is going on in the relationships between generations in France and in Poland, when the grandparents are called to contribute to early childhood care. The care services in the two countries are analysed over three generations using a detailed interviews with 37 pairs of parents and grandparents in the same family line. This brings to light major differences in the contributions of the grandparents. More specifically, in Poland where public social policies are little developed, the extended family plays an important role in the early childhood care : grandparents are actually the main care providers. On the French side, grandparents will participate only from time to time in the childhood care ; but, like in the Polish family, this kind of mutual support is necessary to allow the professional development of the young generations. |
