Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Blood and hair are usually not dealt with specifically by ethnographers. Nonetheless, as parts of the body, they are often referred, to though incidentally. In this paper, the author probes several fields related to the daily as well as the ritual life in which the Tikuna, an Amazonian Indian group, link them stongly. This research focuses as well on the immediate environment : lodging, garden and forest, as well as on the different species living in this place : plants, animals and other beings. All these beings more or less refer to hair and blood, which receive a specific treatment, depending on the circumstances under which they appear. This association is noticeable also with regard to human beings. However it is, then, a response to different processes. That is the reason why the way the Tikuna treat hair, which they often bring together with blood, gives meaning to their particular stages of life, from birth to adulthood. |
