| Summary, etc. | Dans le foisonnement d’institutions internationales fondées au cours de l’entre-deux-guerres, des écrivains et diplomates de plusieurs pays fondèrent une Association internationale des écrivains de langue française. Tendue entre la défense des intérêts professionnels des écrivains et la promotion de la langue française, comme entre la prédominance d’une conception unitaire, centrée sur les normes parisiennes, et la reconnaissance des « autres » littératures écrites en français, cette association fut la première manifestation « francophone » officielle et multilatérale, quarante ans avant l’émergence de la Francophonie. |

| Summary, etc. | Forty years before the emergence of the “Francophonie” as a concept and a network of institutions, writers and diplomats of more than 15 countries created an International Association of French Language Writers (1932-1940). Caught up between the defense of their professional interest as writers and the promotion of the French language, as well as a unitary conception of French Literature based on Parisian norms, and the recognition of the plurality of French literatures, the association organized two world congress and put forward many measures facilitating the circulation, in France, of foreign works published in French. |
