| Summary, etc. | Au début du xviie siècle, dans le sillage de la réforme catholique et des décrets tridentins, de nombreuses communautés urbaines du royaume de France, petites et grandes, connaissent une recomposition de leurs rapports au sacré. L'affirmation de liens privilégiés avec une ou des figures saintes devient le lieu de construction d'une société désormais dévote, avec pour horizon collectif la sainteté. Dans ce cadre, les petites villes d'Étampes et de Melun situées dans la campagne parisienne apparaissent comme des cas pertinents pour comprendre ces nouvelles relations avec le sacré, tant d'un point de vue matériel qu'hagiographique. S'appuyant sur des ressources sacrées locales qu'elles inventent et transforment, elles participent à une nouvelle norme de l'identité urbaine fondée sur des pratiques mais également des connaissances qui font du particularisme religieux local une exigence commune à ces mondes urbains. |

| Summary, etc. | At the beginning of the 17th century, following the Catholic reform and the Tridentine decrees, many urban communities in the Kingdom of France, both large and small, saw a reshaping of their relationship with the sacred. The affirmation of privileged ties with one or more holy figures became a foundation for building a society that was henceforth devout, with holiness as its collective horizon. In this context, the small towns of Étampes and Melun in the Parisian countryside are relevant cases for understanding these new relationships with the sacred, from both material and hagiographic points of view. Relying on local sacred resources that they invented and transformed, they participated in a new norm of urban identity based on practices but also knowledge that made local religious particularities a common requirement in these urban worlds. |
