| Summary, etc. | Que s’est-il passé à Qṣar al-Kabīr le 28 juin 1933 ? Dans cette ville de la zone espagnole du protectorat marocain, une pièce de théâtre prévue par l’école hispano-israélite pour la fin de l’année scolaire donne lieu à des protestations de la part des notabilités musulmanes de la ville, et à une émeute populaire. Les différentes sources, archivistiques, périodiques et orales livrent des versions différentes de l’événement. Cet article cherche à en retracer les causes et le cours, en croisant les différentes sources disponibles et les entretiens. Il s’efforce aussi d’en saisir le sens et la portée en l’insérant dans une géographie plus large, considérant les circulations des rumeurs et des informations à l’intérieur du Maghreb, entre le Maroc et le Moyen-Orient, entre le Maroc et l’Europe. À la façon de la « micro-histoire globale », il croise cette histoire connectée avec une histoire sociale ancrée dans le local, ici dans les chronologies propres à la ville de Qṣar al-Kabīr et dans sa configuration sociale et politique particulière. L’émeute, fondée sur une accusation de blasphème, est analysée comme une forme de mobilisation nationaliste, contre les colonisateurs et contre une forme de vie sociale transcommunautaire. |

| Summary, etc. | What happened in Qṣar al-Kabīr on June 28th, 1933 ? In this city of the Spanish zone of the Moroccan protectorate, a theater play planned by the Hispano-Israelite school for the end of the school year gave rise to protests from the Muslim notables of the city, and to a popular riot. The different sources, be they archival, periodical or oral, offer different versions of the event. This article studies its causes and unraveling, by crossing the sources available and interviews. It also intends to grasp its meaning and scope by inserting it into a wider geography, considering the circulations of rumors and news in North Africa, between Morocco and the Middle East, between Morocco and Europe. Drawing from “global micro-history”, it shows how the event fits into both connected and social history, rooted in the local level. The peculiar chronologies of Qṣar al-Kabīr and in its specific social and political configuration prove essential to be taken into account. Based on an accusation of blasphemy, the riot is thus analyzed as a form of nationalist mobilization, against the colonizers and a form of transcommunal social life. |
