Fort d’une parentèle importante et régulièrement renforcé par des alliances patrimoniales, le « Clan Panckoucke » conforte progressivement sa position sur la place de Lille, tant dans le monde de la librairie que dans celui du négoce. L’exercice de charges honorifiques puis de pouvoir au sein des institutions du commerce (Monnaie, Tribunal et Chambre de commerce) et de la franc-maçonnerie lilloise lui assure une visibilité sans pareille à la veille de la Révolution. Au-delà des étapes de cette ascension, cet article se propose d’analyser une stratégie familiale mise en œuvre avec succès. |
