| Summary, etc. | Résumé L’application de la stimulation cérébrale profonde à des troubles psychiatriques peut constituer un exemple des neurosciences comme pratique clinique et thérapeutique. Elle entérine le passage d’un ensemble de théories et de recherches fondamentales sur le fonctionnement du cerveau articulées à un discours constitutif de la pratique même sur l’individu moderne « normal », au développement de thérapeutiques efficaces dans le traitement de troubles psychiatriques et de prises en charge de malades. Cette technique nous confronte alors en pratique à la naturalisation d’un ensemble de processus mentaux et permet une analyse anthropologique des mutations que les neurosciences entraînent dans la définition de l’individu en termes de cérébralité. Nous verrons alors comment celles-ci donneraient prise au discours et à la figure individualistes du sujet contemporain. |

| Summary, etc. | Deep brain stimulation applied to mental disorders can be taken as an example of neuroscience as a clinical and therapeutic practice. It confirms the passage from theories and research on brain activity – connected to a discourse on the modern « normal » subject – toward the development of efficient therapeutics for mental disorders and patient care. This technology confronts us, at a practical level, with the naturalization of mental processes and gives us the possibility of studying how neuroscience transforms the individual’s anthropological definition as « cerebral » individuality. We then shall analyse how these transformations allow the discourse on the contemporary individualistic subject to take hold. |
