Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Since the 1990s, port terminals have been privatized and the protective status of dockers has been called into question. Everything seems to contribute to the depoliticization of work. However, the case of the autonomous collective of port workers in Genoa, engaged in a struggle against the circulation of weapons, shows the persistence of radical political mobilizations in the Genoese port space. From this case, this article questions the recomposition of a form of “docker citizenship”. This collective, inscribed in local student and anti-fascist struggles, entered into conflict with the majority union to integrate a union aiming to reintroduce conflictuality in the port. Their radical perspective leads them, following the publicization of the circulation of weapons in the port, to question it. Becoming aware of the strength that their position within logistics capitalism grants them in terms of filtering unworthy merchandise, they insert themselves into the European space of antimilitarist struggles. |
