| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. |
| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. | This article focuses on the transformation of the governance structures of those international intergovernmental organizations (IOs) which are active in the field of development and which are opening up to the participation of non-state actors (NSAs) considered as stakeholders. Focusing on two case studies, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), this article shows in particular that the turn of the 2010s is marked by the integration of stakeholder participation mechanisms in the framework of IO reforms, at least partially inspired by the participatory turn in development policies and new public management. While one of the objectives is to produce consensus, or even convergence, between diverse actors - and in particular to allow for the formal and conventional participation of for-profit companies - this article shows that these mechanisms also generate new opportunities for transnational contestation. |
