| Summary, etc. | Rien ne destinait le couple Éboué-Tell à la vie politique. Formé à l’École coloniale, Félix Éboué a lutté contre les injustices sociales, lot ordinaire des populations noires des Antilles-Guyane comme des colonies de l’Afrique équatoriale. La défaite de juin 1940 propulse le couple dans la politique. Premier gouverneur à rallier la France libre, Félix devient gouverneur général de l’AEF ; Eugénie, elle, s’engage dans les Forces françaises libres féminines. Après 1945, elle est députée puis conseillère municipale, sans jamais cependant s’émanciper de son couple : Eugénie Éboué-Tell demeura sa carrière durant « femme de ». |

| Summary, etc. | The Éboué-Tell couple wasn’t destined to a political career. Trained at the Colonial School, Félix Éboué fought against the social injustices, daily experienced both by the Antilles-Guyana black populations and by people from Equatorial Africa colonies. The June 1940 defeat propels this couple into political commitment. Félix was the first governor to join free France; he then became governor general of the AEF while Eugenie joined the French Free Women Forces. After 1945, she became a Member of Parliament and then a city councilor. But she always remained Félix Éboué’s wife and failed to emancipate from her husband’s shadow. |
