| Summary, etc. | La jeunesse taïwanaise est souvent pointée du doigt par les générations actuellement au pouvoir et stigmatisée pour son inconsistance, son manque de ténacité face à la pression et son « incurie politique ». Pourtant, cette nouvelle génération a été au cœur de tous les grands mouvements sociaux des années 2010, notamment sur les questions environnementales. Cet article souhaite montrer en quoi ces dernières constituent l’un des espaces actuels de politisation de la plus jeune des générations de citoyens taïwanais. Trois aspects de cette mise en contact avec le politique seront étudiés. Tout d’abord, le retour en force des questions environnementales participe à la création d’un sentiment plus général de crise et d’urgence au sein d’une jeunesse saisie par l’impression grandissante de la faillite du modèle de développement économique mis en place par les générations précédentes. Ensuite, les protestations générées par ce sentiment de crise ont contribué à faire sauter certains verrous psychologiques au sein de la jeunesse taïwanaise en produisant une transformation radicale du rapport à la contestation dans une société encore très conservatrice. Enfin, ces sujets de préoccupation constituent des voies dérivées de matérialisation d’un espace politique commun renforçant l’identification à une communauté de destin liée au territoire de Taïwan et à sa survie. |

| Summary, etc. | Taiwanese youth are often singled out by older people and stigmatized for a perceived lack of resilience under pressure and the weakness of their political involvement. However, during the 2010s, this new generation has been at the heart of all main social movements, especially those related to environmental issues. This paper intends to show how these issues constitute an important space for the politicization of young Taiwanese citizens. Three aspects will be studied : First, the powerful comeback of environmental issues to the center of public affairs has created a sense of crisis and urgency among Taiwanese youth. The growing impression is that the economic model which brought prosperity to Taiwan is now on the verge of collapse and needs to be questioned. Second, this sense of crisis has produced social movements that in turn helped to break some of Taiwanese youth’s psychological locks by producing a radically new approach to public protest in what is still a highly conservative society. Third, environmental concerns are derivative ways to materialize a common political space that reinforces identification with a common destiny linked to the territory of Taiwan and its survival. |
