520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Why is recognition of the Armenian genocide of 1915–1916 still such an important issue today? What does this tell us about contemporary sensitivities to this event? This article traces the progressive politicization of the memory of the Armenian genocide in the face of Turkish denialism in the latter half of the twentieth century. It shows how the issue gained international traction from the 1990s to the 2015 centenary. The cases of France and the United States are particularly revealing of the dynamics of recognition and its domestic political stakes, given their large Armenian communities and the prominence of memory-related issues in their public life.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
