| Summary, etc. | Tranq or zombie drug is a drug that most commonly combines xylazine and fentanyl. This addiction has become a scourge in the USA where the number of overdoses related to this consumption has increased exponentially since 2018. These two substances are the cause of mainly neurological effects with motor inertia, dysarthria and temporo-spatial disorientation, cutaneous effects with ulcers due to tissue hypoperfusion, but also cardiovascular effects with bradycardia and hypotension, and respiratory depression. Health professionals treating these patients must take action on withdrawal but also be aware of the ineffectiveness of naloxone to counteract the adverse effects. |

| Summary, etc. | La tranq ou drogue du zombie est une drogue qui associe le plus communément xylazine et fentanyl. Cette addiction est devenue un fléau aux États-Unis où le nombre d’overdoses en rapport avec cette consommation se développe de manière exponentielle depuis 2018. Ces deux substances sont à l’origine d’effets surtout neurologiques avec une inertie motrice, une dysarthrie et une désorientation temporospatiale, cutanés avec des ulcères du fait d’une hypoperfusion tissulaire, mais aussi cardiovasculaires avec une bradycardie et une hypotension, et des dépressions respiratoires. Les professionnels de santé prenant en charge ces patients doivent avoir une action sur le sevrage, mais aussi être conscients de l’inefficacité de la naloxone pour contrecarrer les effets indésirables. |
