| Summary, etc. | Cette contribution vise à examiner un certain nombre de conditions susceptibles de favoriser ou pas l’engagement et l’apprentissage au travail des sages-femmes libérales novices du point de vue de leur accès aux affordances disponibles dans l’environnement de travail. L’analyse des entretiens de type compréhensif et biographique avec six sages-femmes libérales diplômées entre 2008 et 2014 montre que leur accès aux affordances résulte de l’interaction entre des facteurs individuels et situationnels, dont l’apprentissage par les pairs. Cet apprentissage, qui ne fait l’objet d’aucune formalisation, révèle certaines limites des alliances coopératives dans un environnement concurrentiel, surdéterminé par un contexte macrosocial de faible légitimité. |

| Summary, etc. | The purpose of this contribution is to examine a number of conditions that may or may not promote novice midwives’ on-the-job engagement and learning regarding the accessibility of affordances available in the work environment. The analysis of comprehensive and biographical interviews with six liberal midwives graduated between 2008 and 2014 suggests that their access to affordances results from the interaction between individual and situational factors, including peer learning. This type of learning, which is not subject to any kind of formalization, reveals certain limits of cooperative alliances in a competitive environment, over-determined by a macrosocial context of low legitimacy. |
