Summary, etc. | RésuméLa littérature française propose quelques textes dans lesquels tuteur et pupille finissent par former un couple. Ils sont peu nombreux et concentrés sur les XVIIIe et XIXe siècles. Leur point commun est qu’à une relation de tutorat succède une relation de couple toujours fondée sur le désir amoureux. Basée sur l’analyse d’un corpus de neuf textes pertinents, la description des difficultés et des souffrances engendrées par cette mutation nous semble en partie faussée par une perception « romantique » du désir, dont nous rendons compte à l’aide de la théorie du désir proposée par René Girard. |

Summary, etc. | When tutors and pupils unite as a couple: mutation of a relationship as depicted in French literatureFrench literature has produces a number of texts in which tutors and pupils come together to form a couple. These are scarce and these circumstances are found in 18th and 19th century literature. The typical factor they share is the evolution of the tutor/pupil relationship to that of a couple which is always founded on amorous desire. Based on the analysis of a corpus of nine relevant texts, the description of the difficulties and pain brought on by this transformation appears to be misinterpreted by our “romantic”perception of desire. The theory of desire developed by René Girard clarifies this notion. |
