Summary, etc. | Dans un contexte marqué par l’appel au partenariat familles-école comme moyen de lutter contre les inégalités, la concrétisation des discours dans les pratiques interroge. À partir d’une étude de cas extraite d’une recherche ethnographique menée dans un établissement scolaire suisse accueillant des élèves de familles principalement issues de la migration et aux revenus modestes, cet article explore le rôle de la confiance dans la construction de la relation parent-enseignant. Son originalité est de s’intéresser conjointement aux quatre dimensions de la confiance en jeu, à savoir la confiance en soi et en l’autre de chacun des acteurs. Les résultats montrent comment un excès de confiance de la part de l’enseignant, tant en soi que dans la qualité de sa relation avec le parent, peut progressivement mettre à mal la confiance réciproque et amener l’enseignant à s’imaginer dans une relation de collaboration avec le parent alors que cette perception est loin d’être partagée. |

Summary, etc. | With the aim of tackling inequalities, families and schools are strongly encouraged to develop a relationship based on partnership. Yet its practical implementation raises many questions. Based on a case analysis from an ethnographic study conducted in one Swiss school receiving pupils from families with low income and migration background, this article investigates the role of trust in the building of the parent-teacher relationship. Its originality lies in the fact that it jointly mobilises four dimensions of trust at stake, namely the self-confidence and the confidence in the other of each of the protagonists. The results show how a teacher’s overconfidence, both in him- or herself and in his or her relationship with the parent, can gradually damage the mutual trust and bring the teacher to imagine being in a collaborative relationship without the parent sharing that conviction. |
