Summary, etc. | RésuméDans cet article, nous procédons d’abord à une synthèse de la documentation scientifique au regard des principaux facteurs expliquant l’auto-exclusion des parents de milieux-socio économiquement faibles au plan de la participation à la vie scolaire ainsi que le faible encadrement des activités de nature scolaire de leurs enfants. Dans un deuxième temps, nous faisons état de certains des résultats d’une enquête nationale québécoise portant sur les besoins d’information et de formation des parents d’enfants d’âge préscolaire et primaire au regard de l’exercice des compétences éducatives parentales. Après avoir identifié les variables de nature socioéconomique en tant que principaux prédicteurs de la demande d’information et de formation de la part des parents d’élèves en âge de fréquentation scolaire maternelle et primaire, nous proposons diverses pistes, à la fois de nature organisationnelle et curriculaire, pouvant être exploitées par le milieu scolaire afin de rétablir le lien école-famille-communauté au sein des populations les plus vulnérables de la société québécoise. |

Summary, etc. | In this article, we start with a synthesis of the scientific literature on the principal factors explaining the self-exclusion of low-income parents in participation in school life as well as the weak supervision by these parents of the school activities of their children. Secondly, we present some of the results of a Quebec national survey relating to the needs for information and training of the parents of kindergarten to 12th year children in the exercise of parental competences in helping their children learn. After identifying the socio-economic variables as the principal predictors of parents’ decision to request information and training regarding pupils in kindergarten and primary school, we propose various tracks, at once of an organizational and curricular in nature, which could be exploited by the educational milieu in order to restore the school-family-community bond within the most vulnerable populations of Quebec society. |
