| Summary, etc. | L’instrument de mesure multidimensionnel de l’engagement parental en contexte de protection de la jeunesse, le Client Engagement in Child Protective Services (Yatchmenoff, 2005) est évalué dans le cadre d’une étude en deux volets menée auprès de 123 parents québécois. L’adéquation d’une version française de l’instrument psychométrique est vérifiée, puis sa validité de construit est établie. La structure factorielle à quatre facteurs proposée par Yatchmenoff a été adéquatement reproduite. Les indices de cohérence interne et de qualité du modèle sont généralement satisfaisants et similaires à ceux de la version originale. La validité de construit a été établie via des liens avec des variables associées. L’emploi de l’instrument est recommandé considérant la richesse d’informations qu’il permet d’obtenir. Une réflexion doit se poursuivre quant à sa bonification. |

| Summary, etc. | The Client Engagement in Child Protective Services (Yatchemneoff, 2005), a multidimensional measure of parental engagement in child protective services, is evaluated in a two-phase study conducted with 123 parents from Quebec, Canada. The adequacy of a French version of the psychometric instrument is determined. The factorial structure proposed by Yatchemnoff is adequately reproduced, internal consistency and quality of fit scores of the French version are generally good and comparable to originals. Construct validity is then established by assessing relationships with variables associated with parental engagement. Use of the instrument is supported. Despite some limitations which could require further work, the diversity of information it provides makes it a unique instrument. |
