| Summary, etc. | Depuis le début du XXIe siècle, les études européennes ont développé leur intérêt pour l’analyse de « l’Europe à géométrie variable ». Cette introduction propose un dialogue critique avec les théories classiques de l’intégration européenne qui conceptualisent la différenciation « horizontale » (variations territoriales) et la différenciation « verticale » (variations dans la centralisation du pouvoir d’une politique publique à une autre). Une troisième logique de différenciation dite « transversale » est proposée pour saisir les groupes professionnels qui travaillent à construire une Europe à géométrie variable pensée comme un fait social. |

| Summary, etc. | Since the beginning of the 21st century, European studies have developed an interest in the analysis of "variable geometry Europe". This introduction proposes a critical dialogue with the mainstream theories of European integration which conceptualise "horizontal" differentiation (territorial variations) and "vertical" differentiation (variations in the centralisation of power from one public policy to another). A third logic of "transversal" differentiation is proposed to capture the professional groups working to build a variable geometry Europe thought as a social fact. |
