520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | According to Marx, the characteristic of the industrial revolution of the eighteenth century is the machine tool. Man is excluded from the productive process and the limitations of his body are overpassed. The steam engine, in its modern form, is a product of the industrial revolution. Once the man is replaced in the handling of the tool, it becomes necessary to replace man as an engine. The steam engine (doubleacting engines) was the first engine producing its own energy by consuming water and coal and « whose power is completely under man’s control ». The industrial revolution led to the possibility of unlimited development of labor productivity which challenges the existence of social classes while the limits of the capitalist production come into light with the overproduction crisis.
