| Summary, etc. | RésuméOn a examiné les motifs allégués du partage social et de la rumination mentale des émotions selon la valence de l’événement. Selon quatre consignes différentes de rappel, 106 participants se sont remémorés un événement émotionnel de leur passé récent ayant impliqué soit la joie, la colère, la peur ou la tristesse. Ils ont ensuite répondu à une série de questions. Les résultats ont montré que les motifs des réminiscences diffèrent selon la valence de l’événement : les réminiscences négatives sont associées à des buts de catharsis, de compréhension, et de soutien social, tandis que les réminiscences positives se déploient dans le but de se souvenir, de susciter l’attention d’autrui, et de l’informer. |

| Summary, etc. | Reported Reasons of the Social Sharing and the Mental Rumination of Emotion : a Comparison between Positive and Negative EpisodesWe examined the reported reasons of the social sharing and the mental rumination of emotion according to the positive vs. negative valence of the event. One hundred and six participants recalled a recent emotional episode which involved either joy, anger, anxiety, or sadness. They then answered a set of questions. Results showed that memories motives depended on the positive vs. negative valence of the event. Negative memories were related to purposes such as catharsis, understanding, and social support, while positive memories were related to purposes such as recalling, informing, and drawing the listener’s attention. |

Según cuatro consignas diferentes de recuerdo, 106 participantes tuvieron que rememorar un acontecimiento emocional de su pasado reciente que había implicado sea la alegría, la cólera, el miedo o la tristeza. Luego respondieron a una serie de cuestiones. Los resultados mostraron que los motivos de las reminiscencias diferían según valencia del acontecimiento : las reminiscencias negativas son asociadas a fines de catarsis, de comprensión, y de apoyo social, mientras que las reminiscencias positivas se despliegan con el fin de acordarse, de suscitar la atención de otros, y de informarlo. |

| Summary, etc. | ZusammenfassungUntersucht wurden Motive sozialbezogenen und mentalen Wiederauflebens von Emotionen im Hinblick auf die Valenz des Ereignisses. Gemäß vier unterschiedlichen Anweisungen die Erinnerung betreffend sollten sich 106 Teilnehmer am Experiment an ein emotionales Ereignis aus jüngster Vergangenheit erinnern, das Freude, Wut, Angst oder Traurigkeit beinhaltet. Anschließend musste eine Reihe von Fragen beantwortet werden. Die Untersuchungsergebnisse haben gezeigt, dass die Motive des Sich-Erinnerns je nach der Valenz des Ereignisses sich unterscheiden : negative Reminiszenzen sind assoziiert mit den Zielen Katharsis, Verstehen und soziale Unterstützung, während positive Reminiszenzen auftreten mit dem Ziel des Sich-Erinnerns, des Erweckens der Aufmerksamkeit eines anderen, und des Informierens. |

A partire da quattro diverse consegne di richiamo in memoria, 106 partecipanti si sono ricordati di un avvenimento emozionale del loro passato recente, che avesse avuto come conseguenza la gioia, o la collera, o la paura, o la tristezza. Hanno poi risposto ad una serie di domande. I risultati hanno mostrato che i motivi di ricordo differiscono a seconda della valenza dell’avvenimento : i ricordi negativi sono associati ad un fine catartico, di comprensione, di sostegno sociale, mentre le reminiscenze positive si sviluppano nella finalità di ricordare, di attrarre l’attenzione altrui, e di informare l’altro. |
