| Summary, etc. | Après le 11 septembre 2001, le NYPD a mis en place un vaste programme de surveillance des populations musulmanes. Une fois ce programme révélé au grand jour, les communautés musulmanes l’ont largement condamné car elles le considèrent comme discriminatoire et liberticide. La méfiance née de cette affaire a durablement affecté les relations du NYPD avec les communautés musulmanes ce qui pourrait s’avérer problématique à l’avenir. |

| Summary, etc. | In the wake of 9/11, the NYPD started to build its own intelligence agency to respond efficiently to possible terrorist threat. To do so, it implemented a broad Muslim surveillance program. Once revealed to the public, Muslims leaders and communities largely condemned a program that they consider discriminatory and liberticide. Distrust spread and severed relations of the NYPD with Muslims communities which could be problematic in the future. |
