| Summary, etc. | This article revisits the book O Saci-Pererê – Resultado de um Inquérito (Saci-Pererê – Result of an Inquiry), published in 1918, by the Brazilian author Monteiro Lobato. The book contains more than seventy testimonies that give plural versions of the most Brazilian of myths: the Saci – a black goblin, with European and indigenous heritage. Starting from the study of the canonical narrative and the recognition of the symbolic weight of the name of the myth, this work begins with a mythocritical analysis based on the archetypological contribution of the general theory of the imaginary, seeking to highlight the symbolic constellations that emerge from the work. Although initial readings may conjure up racist and demonized images, from our analysis we have identified groupings relating to the following mythologems: the native, the bird, the slave, the trickster, the devil, and the hero. They highlight an inherent complexity of the myth, as one that vacillates between ally and punisher, between relative of the devil and God’s chosen one, between maintainer of the status quo and source of inspiration for freedom. |

| Summary, etc. | Cet article revisite le livre O Saci-Pererê – Resultado de um inquérito, publié en 1918, de l’auteur brésilien Monteiro Lobato. Le livre compte plus de soixante-dix témoignages qui donnent des versions plurielles du plus brésilien des mythes : le Saci – un lutin noir, avec un héritage européen et indigène. À partir l’étude du récit canonique et de la reconnaissance du poids symbolique du nom du mythe, ce travail commence par une analyse mythocritique fondée sur l’apport archétypologique de la théorie générale de l’imaginaire, cherchant à mettre en évidence les constellations symboliques qui émergent de l'œuvre. Bien que les premières lectures puissent évoquer des images racistes et diabolisées, notre analyse permet d’identifier des regroupements relatifs aux mythologèmes suivants : l’indigène, l’oiseau, l’esclave, le fripon, le diable et le héros. Ils mettent en évidence une complexité inhérente au mythe, qui hésite entre allié et punisseur, entre parent du diable et élu de Dieu, entre mainteneur du statu quo et source d’inspiration pour la liberté. |
