| Summary, etc. | RésuméLe gender mainstreaming, ou approche intégrée de l’égalité, a été présenté, à la fin des années 1990, par les institutions, politiques et administratives, en charge des droits des femmes, comme une nouvelle approche de l’égalité des sexes. L’objet de cet article est d’examiner la réalité et la nature éventuelle du changement de paradigme qui se serait, dès lors, opéré. Sa mise en œuvre s’est, en effet, traduite par des actions en faveur de l’égalité des sexes qui s’inscrivent davantage dans la continuité que dans la rupture avec l’approche spécifique précédente. Le bilan de son application fait apparaître un certain nombre de paradoxes, dont la dilution de l’égalité des sexes elle-même, ce qui met en lumière la difficulté d’influer sur les processus décisionnels. |

| Summary, etc. | Promotion of gender equality in France: continuity and discontinuityGender mainstreaming or “an integrated approach to equality” was presented at the end of the 1990s by political and administrative institutions responsible for women’s rights as a new approach to sexual equality. The purpose of this article is to examine the reality and the eventual nature of the paradigmatic change which should have then occurred. The implementation of this policy has indeed led to actions in favour of gender equality that are more in continuity than a break with the previous approach. The balance sheet brings out a certain number of paradoxes, including the dilution of gender equality itself, which highlights the difficulty in influencing decision-making processes. |

| Summary, etc. | ResumenEl mainstreaming de género, o enfoque integrado de la igualdad, ha sido al final de los años 1990, por las instituciones, políticas y administrativas, a cargo de los derechos de las mujeres, como un nuevo enfoque de la igualdad de sexos. El objeto de este artículo es examinar la realidad y la naturaleza eventual del cambio de paradigma que se habría producido desde entonces. Su actuación se tradujo, en efecto, en acciones a favor de la igualdad de sexos que se inscriben más en la continuidad que en la ruptura con el enfoque específico precedente. El balance de su aplicación hace aparecer un cierto número de paradojas, una de ellas la dilución de la igualdad de sexos misma, lo que pone en evidencia la dificultad de influir sobre los procesos de decisión. |
