| Summary, etc. | Un certain nombre de travaux de sciences sociales ont su complexifier le modèle femme/homme. Cet article revient sur la genèse et les apports de ces approches, tout en suggérant une nouvelle voie. Beaucoup de recherches se sont penchées sur l’intrication des rapports sociaux et sur les styles de féminité et de masculinité, mais sans nécessairement décomposer ce que le genre recouvre pour chacun⋅e ni questionner la bipartition femme/homme. En s’inspirant de la sociologie des classes sociales et en tenant compte des transformations contemporaines de l’ordre sexué, ce texte invite à concevoir le genre comme un espace multidimensionnel dans lequel les positions sont à la fois nombreuses et composites. |

| Summary, etc. | A number of research projects in the social sciences have added complexity to the woman/man model. This article examines the genesis and contributions of these approaches, while suggesting a new avenue of research. An abundant literature exists on the intertwining of social relations and on femininity and masculinity types, but it often fails to break down what gender means for each or to question the woman/man divide. Drawing on the sociology of social classes and considering contemporary transformations of the gendered order, this article calls for an understanding of gender as a multidimensional space in which positions are both numerous and composite. |

| Summary, etc. | Una serie de estudios de ciencias sociales han sido capaces de complejizar el modelo mujer/hombre. Este artículo repasa la génesis y las aportaciones de estos enfoques, al tiempo que sugiere un nuevo camino. Muchas investigaciones se han centrado en la interacción de las relaciones sociales y en los estilos de feminidad y masculinidad, pero sin desglosar necesariamente lo que significa el género para cada persona ni cuestionar la bipartición mujer/hombre. Basándose en la sociología de las clases sociales y teniendo en cuenta las transformaciones contemporáneas del orden sexual, este texto nos invita a concebir el género como un espacio multidimensional en el que las posiciones son a la vez numerosas y compuestas. |
